MorungExpress: NQAS Accreditation Lifts Health and Wellness Centre in Mopungchuket to New Heights
National Quality Assurance Standards External Assessment Conducted at HWC Mopungchuket, Mokokchung
A two-member team of external assessors from the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) conducted a comprehensive assessment at the Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) Mopungchuket, Mokokchuk, on April 5. The assessment aimed to evaluate the center’s compliance with NQAS standards, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to the community.
According to sources, the HWC Mopungchuket, established in 1967 and upgraded to a Health and Wellness Centre in 2019, caters to a population of 971. The center’s Chief Operating Officer, Rongsenlila CHO, welcomed the external assessors and provided an overview of the HWC’s history, functioning, infrastructure, and achievements. She also highlighted the center’s Vision and Mission statement and thanked the community for their continued support.
Dr. Vibhor Kumar, one of the external assessors, praised the Village Health Committee and the community for their active participation and cooperation in maintaining the center’s facilities. He also commended the efforts of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), labeling them the “backbone of the health system.” The NQAS Certification Program is a prestigious accreditation recognized globally, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare services.
As the highest national quality certification for public health facilities, the NQAS certification was launched in 2013. To receive this certification, healthcare facilities must fulfill the National Quality Assurance Standard criteria accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua). The NQAS Certification Program identifies and celebrates excellence in healthcare delivery, providing a framework for healthcare providers to continually improve their services.
The assessment at HWC Mopungchuket is a significant milestone in the center’s journey towards excellence. The outcome of this assessment will determine whether the center meets the NQAS standards, a recognition that can increase community trust and confidence in the healthcare services provided.
The importance of quality healthcare cannot be overstated, and initiatives like the NQAS Certification Program play a crucial role in promoting excellence in healthcare delivery. As healthcare facilities strive to provide the best possible services to their communities, the NQAS certification serves as a benchmark for quality, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
