Union Minister Triumphantly Showcases Major Achievements & Ambitious Future Plans for Indian Railways in Lok Sabha
Minister Vaishnaw outlined the development and deployment of the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, KAVACH, a significant achievement under PM Modi’s leadership. The initiative began with trials in 2016, earning SIL-4 certification by 2019, which is the highest safety level for train systems. Building on this success, a 3,000 km project for KAVACH’s implementation was launched. By 2024, KAVACH version 4.0 received approval, and three manufacturers are now involved, with more anticipated to join.
In a nod to the system’s technological and educational impact, Vaishnaw highlighted that 8,000 engineers have been trained in its use, and KAVACH has been integrated into the curricula of six universities. This not only underscores the system’s advancement but also its prospective role in engineering education and safety.
The minister’s address underscored a milestone in India’s rail technology, demonstrating the nation’s commitment to safety and innovation in rail transport.
