A man was brutally attacked and robbed outside a Union Bank ATM in Guwahati’s Fancy Bazar area on Friday, April 4. The incident occurred on Jail Road when the victim, carrying a significant amount of cash, withdrew it from the ATM. The assailants threw chilli powder at the victim before snatching his money, leaving him injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was seen withdrawing a substantial amount of money, around ₹6 lakh, from the ATM around 10 am. However, before he could even leave the area, a group of miscreants appeared out of nowhere and attacked him. The exact amount stolen by the assailants remains unclear, but it’s evident that a sizeable sum was indeed stolen.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from the police station revealed, “We are analysing CCTV footages from the area and gathering evidence to identify the culprits.
