According to preliminary reports, a 56-year-old man from Arunachal Pradesh allegedly armed with a machete attacked an Assamese fish vendor, leaving the victim in critical condition. According to eyewitnesses, the accused, Phassang Niya, demanded 3 kg of fish for free at the Banderdewa Market. When his request was denied, he allegedly brandished a local machete and attacked fish vendor Arun Hazarika, inflicting grievous head injuries. Niya also assaulted complainant Utpal Das, causing minor injuries. The victim, Hazarika, was rushed to TRIHMS Hospital with severe head injuries and is currently under medical care. Das, who suffered minor injuries, was also examined at the same hospital.
