Embracing Excellence: DHSK Commerce College Unveils its Star-Studded National Classical Series
The realm of classical music was enthralled at the DHSK Commerce College in Dibrugarh as the SPIC MACAY Dibrugarh Chapter and Heritage Club of the college hosted a Workshop Demonstration programme. This event, part of the SRF National Classical Series, featured renowned musicians Anjan Saha on the sitar and Nabarun Dutta on the tabla, both from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the SPIC MACAY Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre.
The programme began with an introduction by Dr. Rajee Konwarh, Chairperson of the SPIC MACAY Dibrugarh Chapter, who highlighted the organization’s mission to promote Indian classical music and the success of the Workshop Demonstration Series, which has so far reached out to 11 educational institutions in Dibrugarh. With a strong sense of gratitude, the artistes began their performance, regaling the audience with a range of Hindustani classical music pieces, including the iconic Raga Bhairavi and the timeless classic, “Manuhe Manuhor Baabe”, originally composed by legendary musician Bhupen Hazarika.
The audience, comprising volunteers of the SPIC MACAY Dibrugarh Chapter, students, teachers, and non-teaching staff, was fully engaged in the performance, with the artistes even initiating an interaction session to encourage audience participation. As a token of appreciation, Dr. Rajee Konwarh, on behalf of the SPIC MACAY Dibrugarh Chapter, felicitated the performers and the Principal of the college, Dr. Joydev Gogoi. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the Principal, expressing his gratitude to the artistes and the organizing team.
This enriching cultural exchange not only provided an opportunity for the participants to experience the beauty of Indian classical music but also reiterates the significance of preserving and promoting our cultural heritage.
