Emotional Blackmail and Online Shame: Two Men Arrested for Leaking Woman’s Private Photos on Telegram

Guwahati, Guwahati: A chilling tale of cybercrime unfolded in the city as the police arrested two individuals, Gautam and Manshab, in connection with a reprehensible online offense. The criminal act has left the victim shaken, and the community is reeling in shock.

According to the police, the victim lodged a formal complaint, prompting a swift response from the law enforcement agencies. The duo was taken into custody under Cyber PS Case No. 06/25, with the charges including sections 77/79/356(2) of the BNS, 2023, and sections 66E/67 of the IT Act, 2000.

As the investigation unfolded, it emerged that Gautam had a romantic relationship with the victim in the past. The erstwhile partner allegedly uploaded intimate photos of her on a social media platform without her consent. These compromising images were then used by Manshab to blackmail the victim, demanding money and threatening to leak more private content if she refused to comply. The victim was, of course, left at the mercy of the perpetrators, forced to withstand their cruel demands.

The police have confirmed that the duo’s sinister plan was executed with malicious intent, preying on the victim’s vulnerability. This despicable act has elicited widespread condemnation, with social media platforms joining hands with the authorities to raise awareness about online safety.

“This is a stark reminder of the dark side of the internet,” said Inspector General of Police, Xyz, while referring to the case. “We urge all citizens to exercise caution while using social media and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure justice is served in this case.”

The arrest of the two suspects sends a strong message that the police will not tolerate such heinous acts, and those who commit these offenses will face the full weight of the law. As the case is handed over to the legal system, the community remains hopeful that justice will prevail, and the perpetrators will be punished to the extent that the law allows.
