Transformative Adventure Awaits: Discover Vizag’s Inspiring East Coast Habitat Centre & Cutting-Edge Virtual Reality Arena
The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has unveiled plans for two ambitious projects in Madhurawada, reflecting the city’s rapid urbanization and economic growth. Released this Thursday, a Request for Proposals (RfP) has been issued, paving the way for development on a public-private-partnership (PPP) basis. The first of these projects is the East Coast Habitat Centre (ECHC), envisioned as a sprawling multi-purpose facility situated on 8.82 acres in Rushikonda, emulating the renowned India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
Strategically located along Law College Road, near Panorama Hills, the ECHC aims to serve a diverse audience, including individuals, corporates, inter-governmental organizations, and non-resident Indians (NRIs). The center will be a hub of activity, featuring commercial office spaces, an art gallery, event lawns, fine dining restaurants, a boutique hotel, and a premium club, among other amenities. The ECHC’s comprehensive offerings are designed to boost the region’s economic and social appeal, with an estimated investment requirement of ₹460 crore and a PPP duration of 36 years, including a three-year construction period.
Complementing the ECHC is the second proposal: the Vizag Experience & Virtual Reality Arena, set to be constructed on a 2.82-acre site along the same road. This development will incorporate a 3-star hotel and promises to offer tourists immersive experiences through cutting-edge technology. It’s anticipated to enhance Visakhapatnam’s appeal as a forward-thinking destination with unique attractions catering to tech-savvy visitors.
VMRDA Commissioner K.S. Viswanathan emphasized the strategic importance of these projects, noting that Visakhapatnam is Andhra Pradesh’s fastest-growing city. “There is a growing need for world-class infrastructure to keep pace with rapid urbanization. The growth of the city will create opportunities for new enterprises and investments, thereby generating demand for jobs, real estate, and other sectors,” he stated. His comments underscore the planned developments’ potential to catalyze economic growth and meet the increasing demands of Visakhapatnam’s burgeoning population.
These projects are set against the backdrop of Visakhapatnam’s ascent as a key urban center in India, where the demand for modern amenities and infrastructure is swiftly escalating. The VMRDA’s initiatives reflect a proactive approach to fostering job creation and inviting investment while enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. The integration of business, leisure, and cultural venues in a cohesive development strategy points to a forward-thinking vision for the city’s future.
As the VMRDA solicits proposals, stakeholders from various sectors will be keen to engage with these transformative projects, which stand to position Visakhapatnam more prominently on the global map. By harmonizing traditional elements with contemporary advancements, the city is poised to offer a dynamic, sustainable urban experience.
With strategic planning and collaborative efforts, these developments will likely contribute to the region’s socio-economic prosperity, making Visakhapatnam an exemplar of growth and innovation in urban India. As these projects evolve from proposals to reality, they are set to redefine the city’s landscape and solidify its status as a thriving urban hub.
