Outrage Erupts: Civil Services Neglect Sparks Intense Protest at Sonamura
Residents of Sonamura’s Shanti Palli Protest Against Severe Road Dust Conditions
Agartala, 29th July 2024: Frustration reached a boiling point in Sonamura’s Shanti Palli area as residents resorted to protest due to unchecked severe road dust. The locals blocked key roads, Sonamura-Belonia and Sonamura-Srimantapur, from 11:30 am on Monday, disrupting the daily commute for many.
Residents claim repeated pleas to the responsible department to mitigate the dust problem by sprinkling water on the roads have gone unanswered. The persistent dust has made it hazardous for people to leave their homes. Authorities had promised action by 11:30 am on Monday, but when no measures were taken, the community decided to take matters into their own hands.
The blockade caused significant traffic disruptions, inconveniencing numerous passengers. One protester expressed their frustration, saying, “We were forced to block the roads because no one is listening to us. We can’t live like this anymore.”
This protest highlights the residents’ desperation and emphasizes the urgent need for responsive civil services to ensure basic living conditions are met.
