Train Endures Horror Crash: Derailment in India’s Chandauli, Miraculously No Fatalities Recorded
Train Almost Parted Ways in Major Incident on Delhi-Howrah Route
A major incident unfolded on the Delhi-Howrah route on Monday evening when the Nandan Kanan Express lost a section of its train, forcing passengers to be evacuated and causing a significant disruption to services. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the sudden coupling failure left authorities scrambling to contain the situation.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 pm when the train, which had departed from Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Junction’s Platform No. 1, encountered a sudden failure in the coupling of its S4 sleeper coach. The separation occurred just six kilometers from the station, prompting the train’s staff to act swiftly to safeguard the lives of passengers.
Passengers in the affected coach were shifted to other compartments to ensure their safety, while the train was temporarily brought to a halt. Investigations into the cause of the coupling failure are ongoing, with railway officials working to identify the root cause and implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The snapped section of the train was eventually reattached and the train was cleared for departure around 1:00 am on Tuesday, after necessary repairs were completed. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and reliability of India’s aging rail network, which continues to be a critical mode of transportation for millions of commuters across the country.
Railway authorities are under pressure to ensure that such incidents are not repeated, and the cause of the S4 sleeper coach’s coupling failure is being thoroughly investigated. As investigations continue, the Railways are working to restore confidence in the system, while passengers and rail enthusiasts alike await the outcome and potential changes to the industry’s safety regulations.
