Tripura Gets Boost in Infrastructure and Development, Chief Minister Announces New Railway Track and Tallest Building
Agartala, March 4, 2025: In a significant development, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has announced that the state will soon be connected by a new railway track from Dharmanagar to Kailashahar, bridging the Unakoti district. Additionally, the state’s tallest building, housing all directorates under one roof, will rise in Gurkhabasti, Agartala. This announcement comes as the state has witnessed unprecedented growth, with various projects worth Rs 162 crore taking shape in the Unakoti district.
Speaking at the event, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several projects, Dr. Saha lamented the constant criticism from opposition parties regarding development in the state. "I want to remind them that every time PM Modi launches a project, we invite them to witness the progress. PM Modi has always emphasized that without developing the Northeast, India’s overall development is impossible, and this work has already begun," he said, highlighting the significant strides made since the BJP formed the government in 2018. "The PM has delivered on his promise to implement the HIRA model, strengthening internet connectivity, national highways, and railway infrastructure in Tripura."
Dr. Saha also praised the state’s business-friendly environment and peaceful atmosphere, citing the recent investor summit, where 87 deals worth Rs 3,700 crore were signed across various sectors. Tripura’s GSDP has risen to the second position in the Northeast, with a notable increase in per capita income. "We are focused on industrial growth through MSMEs, and our government is committed to solving problems, whereas the previous government created them," he added.
The Chief Minister also announced the construction of a G+14 multi-storeyed office building at Gurkhabasti, worth Rs 134 crore, which will house all directorates under one roof. This ambitious project is a testament to the state’s aspirations for growth and development.
The event, held at the BDO office complex in Chandipur, Kailashahar, was attended by Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Tinku Roy, Unakoti District Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, and other dignitaries. The Chief Minister handed over a cheque to the family of Late Ramjoy Pal, a tea worker who lost his life in an accident, and prayed for the bereaved family to find strength to overcome their difficult situation.
As the state continues to make strides in various sectors, the announcement of a new railway track and the tallest building in Tripura is a significant boost to the region’s development, marking another milestone in the state’s growth trajectory.
