Stalin’s Urgent Plea to Tamilians: ‘Immediately Have Babies’ Amid Delimitation Fears
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin Warns of Potential Shift in Parliamentary Representation Amid Delimitation Plans
In a stern warning, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has cautioned that the state’s parliamentary representation may be under threat due to the population-based delimitation plans of the Union government. The chief minister has urged the public to take immediate action to counter the potential impact by producing children, warning that the state’s family planning successes could now prove to be a disadvantage.
Speaking at a press conference, Stalin emphasized that the Union government’s delimitation plans will be based on population census figures, putting Tamil Nadu at risk of losing eight MPs and, subsequently, its representation in Parliament. He urged citizens to put aside personal egos and work together to address this pressing issue, stating, “I urge everyone to attend and set aside ego. Don’t think why should you listen to my call. This is not a problem of the DMK, it is a problem for the entire state. So, I urge everyone again to stand together for the welfare of this state and its rights.”
Stalin’s appeal comes as the state is set to discuss the issue at an all-party meeting, which will be attended by 40 political parties registered with the Election Commission. The chief minister has expressed his concerns about the delimitation process, which he views as a “sword dangling over Tamil Nadu.” He emphasized the urgency of the situation, saying, “We implemented family planning successfully, and now we are facing such a situation. We should have children immediately after marriage, giving them good Tamil names.”
The meeting is scheduled for March 5, where the political parties will discuss the implications of constituency delimitation and the potential impact on Tamil Nadu’s representation in Parliament. Stalin has, however, refused to attend the meeting on behalf of the DMK, which has already expressed its opposition to the delimitation plans. Instead, he will lead the all-party meeting as the chief minister of the state, calling for unity and cooperation from all parties to address this pressing issue.
In light of the delimitation plans, the Tamil Nadu chief minister has stressed the need for immediate actions, urging newlyweds to consider having children soon after marriage. He believes that this could help maintain the state’s political representation in Parliament, denying the Union government’s plans to reduce the number of Lok Sabha seats allocated to Tamil Nadu. The chief minister’s call to action is clear: “Set aside ego and listen to my call. This is a pressing issue, and everyone must work together to address it.”
As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Tamil Nadu will respond to the delimitation plans and whether the state will be able to maintain its current level of representation in Parliament. In the meantime, Chief Minister MK Stalin’s warning and appeal to the public have sent a clear message: unity and cooperation are essential to address the looming threat to the state’s representation.
