Guwahati, April 15: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has submitted a proposal to the Rail Board to operate a tri-weekly train service connecting Bairabi in Mizoram with Guwahati. This decision was announced during the 97th Zonal Railway Users’ Consultation Committee (ZRUCC) meeting at Maligaon on Friday.

The proposal was made in response to a question by ZRUCC member Pandit Sanjeev Narayan Das, who heads the Confederation of All India Rail Users Association. According to an official, the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed route will be ready by June.

The railway authorities assured that the proposal for introducing Rajdhani Express service to Silchar will receive proper consideration. Moreover, the complaints about the Sealdah-Sabroom Kanchanjungha Express will be forwarded to the Eastern Railway authorities. The NFR also indicated that it will evaluate the proposal for establishing a daily express train service between Dharmanagar and Silchar.
