Agartala, 21st February 2025: Tripura’s Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, emphasized his government’s commitment to promoting the state’s culture, tradition, and literature at the Tripura Literature Festival held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan. The three-day festival aims to enrich the state’s cultural landscape and has drawn participation from eminent poets, playwrights, and novelists across India. Dr. Saha expressed his delight in the event’s diverse assembly of literary figures, highlighting that state-organized literature festivals have been instrumental in cultural promotion.
The Chief Minister praised the historical connection between Tripura and the celebrated poet Rabindranath Tagore, noting that Tagore visited the state multiple times and was deeply inspired by its ambiance, resulting in many compositions based on Tripura. He also acknowledged the legacy of Kumar Sachin Dev Burman, who donated land for the establishment of Rabindra Bhavan, which now serves as a crucial literary venue.
Dr. Saha underscored the state’s royal heritage, specifically the Manikya dynasty’s contributions to art and culture, and linked the festival to the observance of Matribhasha Diwas, a day commemorating the sacrifices made for linguistic rights during the East Pakistan language movement.
The event was marked by the presence of notable figures such as Wing Commander Ashok Chakra, Padma Shri awardees Prof. Arunodoy Saha, Dr. Ravi Kanan, Gokul Chandra Das, and Rabindra Awardee Bikach Chowdhury. Dr. Saha applauded the organizers for bringing together such exemplary personalities and reaffirmed the state government’s ongoing dedication to cultural enrichment initiatives.
