Revolutionizing Uttarakhand’s Future: Pushkar Singh Dhami Govt’s Ambitious Rs 1.01-Lakh Crore Budget Focuses on GYAN Innovation
The Uttarakhand government unveiled its budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, amounting to Rs 1.01 lakh crore, marking a 13% increase from the 2024-25 estimates. Finance Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal highlighted a 16.66% boost in the gender budget, now set at Rs 16,961.32 crore. The capital outlay stands at Rs 14,763 crore, with capital expenditure jumping to Rs 44,220 crore from the previous year’s revised Rs 31,538 crore.
The budget prioritizes four key groups: the poor, youth, farmers, and women, collectively referred to as GYAN. Under social security, Rs 1,811 crore is allocated for various pension schemes, Rs 918 crore for subsidies, and Rs 600 crore for the Annaparti Yojana. Housing initiatives receive Rs 261 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and a Rs 25 crore grant for EWS housing.
Education and skill development are also key focuses, with Rs 63 crore allocated for upgrading ITIs, Rs 178.83 crore under the Right to Education Act, and Rs 59.41 crore for free textbooks for students in Classes 9-12. An additional Rs 23 crore is set aside for free shoes and bags for students in Classes 1-8, along with Rs 40 crore for scholarships.
Support for farmers is underscored by Rs 85 crore for the Deendayal Upadhyay Cooperative Farmer Welfare Scheme, Rs 42.18 crore for the farmer pension scheme, and Rs 15 crore for the House of Himalayas Initiative.
Targeted schemes include Rs 157 crore for the Nanda Gaura scheme for families with up to two daughters, alongside allocations for the Child Nutrition Scheme and the Mahalaxmi Kit Scheme.
This budget aims to address key social sectors while fostering growth and development across various demographics in Uttarakhand.
