Revolutionary Arunachal Cabinet Initiative: Transforming Education Infrastructure with Unyielding Determination
The education department of Arunachal Pradesh has been tasked with rigorously executing a transformative program aimed at revamping the state’s education system through enhanced infrastructure development. This initiative was presented during a Cabinet meeting on February 19, chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, under a comprehensive plan titled “Transformation of Education Landscape in Arunachal Pradesh.”
Known as “Mission Shikshit Arunachal by 2029,” the program emerged from extensive research and field assessments across the state. It seeks to establish a forward-looking education system that guarantees quality learning for every student by upgrading infrastructure, optimizing human resources, and empowering teachers with innovative and hands-on teaching strategies.
A key focus of the mission is to phase out single-teacher schools and ensure educational institutions are well-equipped with essential facilities such as classrooms, hostels, toilets, drinking water, and electricity. Digital infrastructure is also a priority, with plans to equip at least 80% of government schools with internet access, smart classrooms, and digital learning tools.
To reinforce teacher capabilities, the program will enhance teacher training institutions and promote capacity-building initiatives. It aims to ensure a fair distribution of human resources across schools, facilitated by a transparent online teacher transfer system.
The mission targets achieving foundational literacy and numeracy for students in grades 1-3, improving board exam results to a 100% pass rate for Class 10 students, and introducing a holistic development curriculum from grades 1-12. A centralized training calendar will be put in place to develop a pool of skilled facilitators and master trainers at district and block levels, ensuring teachers and school heads undergo at least 50 hours of training annually.
This ambitious plan endeavors to create a robust educational framework that not only enhances facilities but also nurtures academic excellence and holistic student development across Arunachal Pradesh.
