Outrage Erupts in Assam: AAP Condemns BJP and Congress Over ‘Half-Hearted’ APSC Scam Investigation
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Assam has sharply criticized both the Congress and the BJP, labeling them as “two sides of the same coin” after the Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission released its report on the notorious APSC cash-for-jobs scam. Anurupa Dekarjai, AAP State Vice President, voiced concerns over the inquiry’s integrity, stating the investigation was partial and inadequate. According to Dekarjai, although the scam took place under Congress and was probed during BJP’s governance, the report selectively discloses details, focusing on bribe money and those who attended gatherings organized by scam mastermind Rakesh Paul. However, it conspicuously omits the names of powerful ministers, MLAs, and influential people previously linked to the scam—many of whom, Dekarjai claims, are now with the BJP. She further alleges that both the Congress and BJP are engaging in mutual political arrangements, asserting that despite BJP’s current dominance, both parties are effectively governing together, leading to a significant developmental halt in Assam. Dekarjai accuses them of causing suffering to the people of Assam through their misdeeds and mismanagement. She firmly declares that both parties are steeped in corruption and asserts that the people of Assam are unlikely to forgive them. This critique underscores AAP’s stance as the party positions itself against what it perceives as systemic corruption and collusion between the two main political players in the region.
