Tragic Loss: Heartbreaking Road Accident Claims Two Lives on Nagaland’s Dikhu Road
Two people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Nagaland’s Dikhu Road, approximately 1.5 kilometers from Tsusapang Sector in Mokokchung. The incident occurred on February 15 when a truck, bearing the registration number AS01 DD 9179, was traveling from Mariani in Assam to Longkhim in Tuensang and collided unexpectedly.
Authorities, including officials from the Mokokchung Police, reached the accident site and confirmed the fatalities. The deceased were identified as Yolise Sangtem, aged 53, and Tsalise Sangtem, aged 51. Both were residents of Angangba village in Tuensang district.
Following the completion of requisite formalities, the authorities released the bodies to their respective families, facilitating the performance of final rites. This incident has deeply saddened the local community, casting a somber shadow over Angangba village.
A formal case has been lodged at Police Station – 1 in Mokokchung, and a thorough investigation to determine the accident’s cause is currently underway. The tragedy highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the region, emphasizing the need for enhanced measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
