Stunning Twist in Investment Fraud Case: Actor Sonu Sood Triumphantly Cleared as Witness Via Video Conferencing | Chandigarh News
The Ludhiana court has discharged actor Sonu Sood from an alleged investment fraud case after he provided testimony via video conferencing. Initially, the court issued an arrest warrant for Sood on February 7, instructing Mumbai police to apprehend him to testify in court. Sood was summoned as a witness following a complaint by Ludhiana advocate Rajesh Khanna, who claimed to have invested Rs 10 lakh in “Rikeza Coin,” expecting his investment to triple, a promise unfulfilled. Khanna also alleged Sood was the company’s brand ambassador and should, therefore, appear in court.
Sood’s counsel, Advocate Ritesh Mohindra, clarified in court that Sood was neither the brand ambassador nor did he promote the company in any way. The actor had attended a single event for “Rikeza Coin” as part of his regular professional engagement, alongside countless others. This explanation led to the judicial magistrate, Ramanpreet Kaur, discharging Sood as a witness. Sood’s testimony was recorded remotely.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Sood expressed puzzlement over his summons, emphasizing his lack of connection to the company beyond attending one of their sponsored events. He expressed relief at being discharged and criticized the opposing party for causing unnecessary trouble.
The case’s next hearing is scheduled for March 20.
