In a remarkable achievement for a young talent from Morigaon, Shikhi Kakati, a third-grade student at Mahendra Kandali Academy, has been honored with multiple prestigious awards on the national stage. The gifted youngster was awarded the ‘Indian Legacy Award’ by the WELRED Foundation, a West Bengal non-profit organization, as well as the ‘Rastra Seva Samman’ and ‘Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Bharatiya Ratna Award’ by The Fair Vision Foundation and Worthy Wellness Foundation in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. These accolades, presented on February 8 and 9, 2025, respectively, underscore her exceptional contributions to cultural arts.
Shikhi, the daughter of poet Mantu Kr. Nath and Junmoni Kakati, embarked on her artistic journey at a tender age of five and has consistently dazzled audiences with her performances at various cultural events. Her dedication to her art is evident as she continues to hone her skills in Satriya dance and acting at the Morigaon Sankari Sangeet Vidalaya. Additionally, she is expanding her acting prowess with the renowned drama group, Sashipat, in Morigaon.
Shikhi’s achievements highlight her as a rising star in the cultural landscape of India, demonstrating the potential and talent emanating from Assam.
