Shocking Journey: Haryana Man’s Rs 50 Lakh Dream to Reach US via Dubai Ends in 5-Minute Arrest | Chandigarh News
In a concerning development, a man from Haryana, Akshay, has filed a complaint with local authorities after being deported from the United States alongside 103 others for illegal entry. He alleged that three travel agents deceived him and his family, promising legal passage to the U.S. in exchange for a hefty sum of Rs 50 lakh. The suspect agents, Deepak Malik, Rajat Mor, and Munish Sharma, reportedly assured him a smooth journey via Dubai on a work visa. Despite initial arrangements, Akshay found himself diverted to Suriname for 20 days before being trafficked across the U.S.-Mexico border in a bus—contrary to the flight promises made to his family.
On January 25, as Akshay attempted to enter the United States, he was apprehended by American border patrol within just five minutes. Detained thereafter, he was deported on February 3. Akshay’s family, who had borrowed an additional Rs 20 lakh to facilitate what they believed to be Akshay’s legal entry, now seeks the return of their money and accountability for the agents’ fraudulent actions.
Responding to Akshay’s formal complaint, the Haryana Police have filed an FIR against the named agents on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust under the Emigration Act at a Hisar police station. An investigation is underway, with authorities vowing to prosecute all such cases brought to their attention by other deported individuals.
This incident underscores the pervasive issues of deceit and exploitation faced by individuals seeking better opportunities abroad, raising significant concerns about the integrity of certain travel agents in the region. The police emphasize their commitment to addressing these offenses, reinforcing the importance of vigilance for prospective immigrants.
