Shocking Allegation: Pradyot Exposes Violation of Reservation Quota in Tripura’s State Sports Recruitment!
Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has raised concerns over a recent recruitment notice for Junior Physical Instructor roles in Tripura, highlighting a failure to adhere to statutory reservation quotas for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC). In a letter to Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy dated February 9, Debbarma pointed out discrepancies between legal mandates and the advertised reservations.
According to the Tripura Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Reservation Act, government job vacancies should include 31% reservation for ST candidates and 17% for SC candidates. However, the current recruitment notice allocates only about 6% of positions (18 posts) for ST candidates and roughly 12% (35 posts) for SC candidates, both noticeably below the legal stipulations.
Debbarma warned that this shortfall could strain relations between the government and Tripura’s marginalized communities, as equitable representation plays a critical role in maintaining public trust in government procedures. “The inadequate reservation for ST and SC candidates erodes the trust of the people in the fairness of government processes,” he asserted, emphasizing the potential damage to government-community relations if the issue is not rectified.
The royal scion has called for immediate action from Minister Roy to amend the recruitment notice to comply with legal requirements. He seeks an explanation for the variances in the advertised reservation quotas, urging an official clarification. Debbarma’s appeal underscores the importance of meeting statutory obligations to foster inclusivity and fairness in recruitment practices, particularly for underrepresented groups.
