Exciting Breakthrough: Celebrate the Launch of 7 Life-Changing Water Supply Schemes in Kathua
In Jammu and Kashmir, significant strides in enhancing rural water infrastructure were made with the inauguration of seven Water Supply Schemes (WSS) in Jasrota, Kathua, by Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, and Union Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh. These projects, executed by the Jal Shakti Department under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), were completed at a cost of Rs. 25 crore and are set to provide potable drinking water to thousands in the region.
According to Akashvani Jammu’s report, these schemes will cater to a dozen villages, benefitting approximately 15,881 individuals across 2,584 households, and include over 2,500 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC). The infrastructure development involved the construction of four tube wells, two bore wells, and four overhead tanks, ensuring the supply of safe drinking water in compliance with JJM guidelines.
During the e-inauguration, Minister Javed Ahmed Rana emphasized the aim of improving rural drinking water infrastructure and acknowledged the support of local legislator Rajiv Jasrotia in advancing the projects. He highlighted the government’s commitment to completing all projects in collaboration with local representatives, underscoring the importance of adhering to set timelines. Rana instructed officials to prioritize land acquisition and forest clearance to ensure continuous progress of development efforts.
Furthermore, the minister announced that a total of 303 water supply schemes, estimated at Rs. 1369.57 crore, are currently being undertaken in district Kathua under the JJM initiative. This large-scale endeavor is expected to significantly bolster the water infrastructure, dramatically improving the lives of rural residents in the region. The commitment of both ministers and the collaboration with local leaders underline a robust approach to addressing water needs in Jammu and Kashmir while fostering sustainable development.
