Victory at Last: Exciting New Beginnings as Dhubri District Museum Foundation Laid After Legal Battle
Foundation Laid for Dhubri District Museum Construction
The foundation for the Dhubri District Museum has been laid on land allocated by the district administration in Ward No. 1 of Dhubri town. This marks a significant step forward in the efforts to preserve and showcase the district’s cultural and historical heritage. The initial phase of construction involves building a boundary wall, with the main museum construction set to commence thereafter.
The journey to this point has been challenging, marked by a prolonged legal dispute between the Dhubri Ladies’ Club and the State Government. The Gauhati High Court recently resolved this battle in favor of the museum. Consequently, the museum has taken possession of the land, measuring 3 katha 10 lechha, thanks to the efforts of Dhubri District Commissioner Dibakar Nath and Circle Officer Partha Pratim Barman.
Former Dhubri District Museum officer expressed optimism, noting the relief felt by those involved in the museum’s development. The museum has been operating from the cramped quarters of the Dhubri District Library, underscoring the necessity of its own dedicated space. Plans are already in place for a G+3 building to house the museum’s collections.
This development is a crucial milestone in preserving Dhubri’s rich heritage, and local heritage enthusiasts are hopeful about the future of the district museum.
