Heroic Manipur Police Rescue: Two Hostages Freed in Daring Assam Operation, Suspect Captured in Imphal
In a daring operation, Manipur police commandos successfully rescued two hostages from Assam, who were allegedly abducted for ransom. The victims, identified as Rintu Mina, 37, and Montu Sheikh, 20, had been held captive for two days. Acting on credible intelligence, the Imphal East district police commandos launched a swift rescue mission at a house in Hatta, Imphal East, late Thursday night.
During the operation, the kidnappers fled, leaving the hostages behind. However, the police apprehended one suspect, Md. Anwar Hussain, 41, from the Kairang-Heingang Khong area. The hostages were safely freed without harm, and an FIR has been filed against the arrested kidnapper to initiate legal proceedings.
The successful operation underscores the efficiency and responsiveness of the Manipur police in handling critical situations.
