Outrage in Sikkim: BJP Urges Swift Justice for Khas Community Against Samson Tamang’s Casteist Slurs
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Sikkim has voiced strong disapproval over the sluggish response by authorities in addressing the casteist and divisive statements allegedly made by Samson Tamang against the Khas community. The party demands Tamang’s prompt arrest and the removal of all related controversial content from social media platforms.
In an official statement, the BJP Sikkim expressed significant concern over the Sikkim Police’s inaction amidst public outrage. The party criticized the delay in legal proceedings, arguing it casts doubt on the state administration’s dedication to justice and societal peace.
“Sikkim is renowned for its communal harmony and peaceful coexistence. Such incidents need immediate and strict attention. Delayed responses send an adverse message and erode public trust in the legal system,” stated BJP Sikkim.
The party outlined two main demands:
1. Immediate legal action should be taken without any hesitation or external influences to ensure timely justice.
2. Authorities must urgently remove the offending video to safeguard social harmony.
BJP Sikkim also called on communities to unite against divisive elements to preserve state unity. The party reiterated that Sikkim’s strength lies in mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, emphasizing that no individual should be allowed to threaten the societal fabric.
“We urge the government to act swiftly in the interests of justice, peace, and stability. Delayed responses could incite unrest, which is not beneficial for Sikkim,” stated Niren Bhandari, Media Incharge of BJP Sikkim.
The BJP’s assertive demands highlight the urgency for swift governmental action to uphold justice and reinforce community cohesion in Sikkim.
