In a significant step towards bolstering healthcare, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasized the state government’s commitment to cancer prevention and treatment. Addressing the inauguration of the State Health Department’s campaign, ‘Arogyam Anandaam – Keep Cancer Away,’ in Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayan highlighted cancer prevention as a top priority. This comprehensive initiative aims to identify individuals at risk of cancer and ensure timely treatment during its early stages.
The campaign, which plans a year-long series of activities, begins its first phase today. Running until March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, this initial phase will focus on screening and treating breast and cervical cancer.
This effort underscores Kerala’s proactive stance in enhancing public health and addressing the cancer menace, offering a structured approach to detecting and managing the disease at the community level. Through early intervention and awareness, the campaign aims to reduce cancer incidences and improve overall health outcomes for the people of Kerala.
