76-Year-Old Woman Dies After Brutal Attack by Neighbor in Imphal
Imphal: A 76-year-old woman, Khangenbam (Ongbi) Mema, succumbed to injuries following a violent assault by her neighbor in Imphal, Manipur, on Saturday.
The suspect, Kh Gokulchandra, 43, who is known to be a part-time footballer, has been taken into police custody. The incident occurred at a community hall in Iroishemba Mamang Leikai, under the jurisdiction of Lamphel police station.
According to police reports, Gokulchandra allegedly kicked Mema multiple times with his studded soccer shoe during a rage-filled outburst. The elderly woman sustained severe injuries and was rushed to JNIMS hospital. Medical staff declared her injuries were beyond recovery, and she later passed away at her residence.
Law enforcement authorities have filed a case, and Gokulchandra is currently being held for further investigation.
