India made a significant mark on the ICC’s ‘Team of the Tournament’ for the recently concluded Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup, with four players from the victorious Indian squad receiving top honors. This global event, held at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, saw Team India clinch the 2025 U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final.
Key Indian players included Gongadi Trisha, G Kamalini, Aayushi Shukla, and Vaishnavi Sharma, each making a profound impact throughout the tournament. Trisha emerged as a standout performer, not only as the leading run-scorer with 309 runs but also earning the Player of the Match award in the final for her stellar all-round performance. She was further honored as the Player of the Tournament, a testament to her dominance, having also contributed to India’s 2023 U19 World Cup win. Her impressive performance in the final, scoring an unbeaten 44 alongside taking crucial wickets with her leg-spin, highlighted her prowess.
Vaishnavi Sharma dominated with the ball, claiming the highest wicket haul in the competition with 17 wickets, while her counterpart Aayushi Shukla was closely behind with 14 wickets. Meanwhile, Kamalini partnered effectively as an opener, amassing 143 runs.
The team of the tournament was captained by South African Kayla Reyneke, who, along with her teammate Jemma Botha, was acknowledged for their significant contributions. England’s Davina Perrin and Katie Jones were also recognized, alongside Australia’s Caoimhe Bray, Nepal’s Puja Mahato, and Sri Lanka’s Chamodi Praboda for their performances. Nthabiseng Nini of South Africa was named the 12th player.
