Exciting News: Jewar International Airport to Launch Regular Flights from Noida in April, Announces Civil Aviation Minister
Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu announced that regular flight operations from Asia’s largest airport, Jewar International in Noida, are set to begin this April. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he assured that the project is on track, with the first validation flight completed successfully in December.
Highlighting India’s growing aviation industry, the minister revealed that 800 planes are currently operational in the country. In a bid to support this expansion, the government is focusing on training a skilled workforce, with 1,600 new commercial pilots being trained annually. Additionally, 54 flight training organizations are now operational across India.
Efforts to enhance safety and reduce technical issues are being prioritized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Significant progress has been made, with technical glitches dropping from 723 incidents in 2022 to 273 in 2024.
Mr. Naidu also highlighted the innovative Digi Yatra scheme, which has revolutionized passenger experience by significantly reducing waiting times at airports. Currently, 24 airports are equipped with this technology, and preparations are underway to introduce it at five more locations soon.
Looking ahead, the minister spoke about plans to establish 100 new airports under the Udaan Extension scheme over the next decade, aiming to boost connectivity and promote regional aviation growth.
These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to making India a global leader in aviation, with a focus on efficiency, safety, and seamless passenger experience. As these developments unfold, they not only promise to enhance connectivity but also align with the broader vision of driving economic growth through improved infrastructure and skilled manpower in the aviation sector.
