Triumphant Victory: Indian Army & Police’s Daring Operation Seizes Arms in Manipur – Northeast News
Imphal: The Indian Army, in collaboration with Manipur Police and other security forces, has successfully conducted several joint operations, significantly impacting the security landscape in Manipur by recovering weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores from various districts.
Prompted by specific intelligence, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police executed a joint operation on January 26 in the Kangpokpi district’s Nepali Basti and Veitum Khullen-Khoken village road. This operation led to the seizure of an array of weaponry, including a 5.56 mm rifle, a 7.62 mm rifle, a modified .303 sniper rifle, a .22 pistol, a single-barrel rifle, two improvised mortars, grenades, and associated ammunition.
On January 25, the joint forces apprehended a cadre from the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) in Thoubal district’s Waithou, further uncovering ammunition from his possession, showcasing their proactive stance against insurgency in the region.
Another operation on January 28 in Churachandpur district, executed collaboratively by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Manipur Police, involved a raid on the Loilamkot-Nalon village road. Here, six long-range rockets measuring 5-6 feet, a launcher stand, a country-made mortar, ammunition, and additional stores were recovered, marking a significant disruption to potential threats.
In a subsequent mission on January 30, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police targeted Chairel Khunou in Kakching district, retrieving a 9mm rifle, a 9mm pistol, grenades, and more ammunition, emphasizing steadfast efforts toward maintaining regional peace.
All seized weapons, ammunition, and detained individuals have been turned over to the Manipur Police for further investigation. These operations underscore the Indian Army and police forces’ effective coordination, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to regional security and stability.
In related news, Manipur is set to host the ‘Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival’ starting February 6, adding a cultural highlight to the state’s event calendar.
