Bengaluru, July 28: A woman has lodged a complaint against her husband in Karnataka’s Hubballi, alleging attempts at forced religious conversion and threats to her life. The incident, which has since led to the filing of an FIR, unfolded in Dharwad city.
According to the police, the complainant married Mujahid Khan in 2017, following a romantic relationship that developed while they both worked at the same company in Bengaluru. Khan had claimed to be unmarried at the time of their marriage, a fact that was later disproved when the woman discovered he was already married and had four children.
Upon confronting Khan about his deception, he allegedly began to torture and threaten her. Matters escalated as Khan reportedly attempted to coerce his wife into converting to Islam. Seeking refuge, the woman relocated to her grandmother’s residence in Kalaghatgi town.
However, Khan tracked her down and continued to issue threats, vowing to find and harm her wherever she might flee. In response to the escalating intimidation, the woman filed a formal complaint against Khan.
Local police have initiated a case and are actively investigating the allegations. The incident has brought attention to the serious issues of forced religious conversion and personal threats within the marital context.
