Heroic Woman Bravely Defends Dogs from Leopard Attack in Tinsukia, Sustains Injuries
In a courageous act of bravery, a woman named Dipti Das sustained injuries while defending her pet dogs from a leopard attack in Tinsukia’s Rongagora Path area early Monday morning. The incident, which took place around 5 am, unfolded when Das was alerted by the frantic barking of her dogs. Upon discovering a leopard attempting to attack her pets, she confronted the animal despite being unarmed.
Das reported that the leopard was not fully grown, roughly the size of a large dog, which gave her a fighting chance. However, she suffered bites to her hand and neck during the encounter. Her family swiftly took her to a government hospital for treatment and notified the Assam Forest Department.
Forest officials, upon investigating the scene, found evidence consistent with a leopard attack, including distinctive footprints. An official from the Forest Department confirmed, “The evidence strongly suggests a leopard attack, and we are currently conducting a thorough investigation.”
This incident has raised concerns due to frequent leopard sightings in the area, prompting calls for increased vigilance and measures to protect residents and their pets from such wildlife encounters.
