ESIC Empowers the Future: 16.07 Lakh New Employees Added in November, 47% Young Trailblazers
In New Delhi, data released by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) indicates a surge in employment, with 16.07 lakh new employees added in November 2024. Notably, 47% of this workforce is under 25, reflecting a positive trend in job creation. Additionally, the Ministry of Labour and Employment reported the inclusion of 20,212 new establishments under the ESI Scheme, enhancing social security coverage.
The year-on-year comparison shows a 0.97% growth in net registrations against November 2023. Of the 16.07 lakh new employees, 7.57 lakh were young individuals, accentuating the opportunity for youth employment. Female net enrolment reached 3.28 lakh, and 44 transgender employees were recorded, indicating inclusive growth in employment benefits.
ESIC’s figures align with those from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), which documented a net member addition of 14.63 lakh in November 2024, a 9.07% increase from October. Year-on-year, EPFO showed a 4.88% rise in net member additions compared to November 2023, underlining enhanced employment prospects and growing awareness of employee benefits.
EPFO data also revealed an uptick of 5.86 lakh in individuals aged 18-25, marking a 7.96% increase from the previous month, highlighting that the organized workforce is predominantly composed of young, first-time job seekers. These developments portray a vibrant outlook for the job market and reinforce efforts towards comprehensive social security coverage across different societal segments.
