Furious Ajay Maken Slams AAP Government for Withholding Crucial CAG Reports | Shocking Delhi News
Ajay Maken, the Congress treasurer, has accused the Delhi government of suppressing a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that allegedly reveals a Rs 382.52 crore scam in the city’s healthcare sector. During a recent press conference, Maken stated he had access to these CAG reports, which have yet to be presented in the Delhi Assembly. He cited that under Arvind Kejriwal’s administration, only three hospitals have been constructed in ten years—projects initiated during the Congress rule—resulting in a financial overrun of Rs 382.52 crore.
Maken pointed to inspections conducted by the CAG at four hospitals: Lok Nayak Hospital, Chacha Nehru Children’s Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality, and Janakpuri Speciality Hospital. He criticized the AAP government for not disclosing the CAG reports in the Delhi Assembly, arguing that Kejriwal, who came to power on an anti-corruption platform, has withheld reports highlighting alleged corruption within his administration.
Additionally, Maken noted a five-year delay and a supplementary cost of Rs 314.9 crore in the construction of the Indira Gandhi Hospital as detailed in the CAG report.
Responding to these allegations, the AAP dismissed them as mere echoes of the BJP’s strategies. In a statement, AAP claimed that the Congress acts as an auxiliary to the BJP, recycling accusations from BJP headquarters without acknowledging alleged corruption in BJP-ruled states. The party suggested that Congress and BJP should officially announce an alliance against AAP for upcoming elections.
The accusations and counter-accusations mark a continued political tussle between AAP, Congress, and BJP, amidst serious allegations of financial mismanagement in Delhi’s healthcare infrastructure.
