Shocking Arrest: Disgraced Delhi Constable Caught Illegally Selling Land with Forged Documents
In 2004, the Delhi Police dismissed constable Sambhunath Mishra after they discovered that the documents he used to join the force in 1986 were fraudulent. Undeterred by this setback, Mishra became involved with a criminal syndicate and posed as a retired deputy superintendent of police (SP). Exploiting this false identity, he engaged in a scheme to defraud people by forging land sale documents.
On Monday, authorities apprehended Mishra, now 55, in Sector 121’s Gandhi Chaukhandi area of Noida. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), Shakti Mohan Avasthy, stated that Mishra is the third person arrested in connection with this case. Two of his associates from the syndicate are already in custody.
Following his dismissal, Mishra was found to have created fake documents for plots in Noida and nearby regions. He sold these lands using forged general power of attorney papers, claiming significant financial benefits. His method involved transferring ownership to his co-conspirators, thereby deceiving buyers.
The arrest was made under charges of cheating (Section 420) and criminal breach of trust (Section 406) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities have expressed their intent to apprehend more individuals connected to this illicit operation.
This case highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in tackling fraud and emphasizes the importance of verifying credentials and documentation in real estate transactions to protect unsuspecting buyers from such deceitful schemes.
