Former Gaon Pradhan of Gaurisagar Passes Away at 99

Gaurisagar: The Gaurisagar community is mourning the loss of Katiram Borah, a respected former Gaon Pradhan of Gaurisagar Naandongia Village under the Sivasagar Revenue Circle and a dedicated social worker, who passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday morning at the age of 99.

His passing has left a profound impact on the Gaurisagar area, where he was cherished for his contributions to social causes and community welfare. Before his cremation, a commemorative shraddhanjali (tribute) function was organized, which saw participation from numerous local organizations. Among those honoring his memory were the Gaurisagar Bornaamghar Parichalana Samiti, Gaurisagar Bibasayee Santha, Triluchan Sanskritic Mancha, the Gaurisagar Press Club, and many others including cultural, social, and political groups from the region.

Floral tributes were paid by the deputy commissioner of Sivasagar, Monuj Borah, representing the widespread admiration and respect Katiram Borah commanded across the community. He is survived by his wife, three sons, a daughter, and a large extended family who continue to uphold his legacy.

Katiram Borah’s enduring influence as a social worker and community leader leaves an indelible mark on Gaurisagar, celebrated and remembered by all those he touched.
