Maha Kumbh 2025: Third Day Sees Massive Devotee Influx at Triveni Sangam
Prayagraj: The 45-day long Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 witnessed a significant influx of devotees at the sacred Triveni Sangam on its third day. Beginning on January 13, the event attracted over 50 million pilgrims in just the first two days, making it the largest religious gathering globally. The confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers saw its first Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti, celebrated with aerial showers of flowers and chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘Har Har Mahadev.’
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude to all departments involved in the seamless execution of the inaugural Amrit Snan, acknowledging the contributions of various religious and administrative bodies, including sanitation workers and voluntary organizations. His message of thanks underscored the unity and devotion defining this mammoth spiritual congregation.
To ensure the safety of the millions of attendees, over 10,000 security personnel, including local police and paramilitary forces, have been stationed at the Sangam Ghat. The festival’s security framework is further bolstered by underwater drones and 2,700 AI-enabled cameras around the Mela Ground. Notably, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed a "water ambulance" with round-the-clock medical facilities to ensure prompt assistance.
The transportation infrastructure for Maha Kumbh 2025 has been meticulously planned, with the Indian Railways operating 1,300 trains, including 3,000 special trains, to facilitate the smooth arrival of devotees in Prayagraj. This robust system highlights the event’s national significance and aims to provide easy access for pilgrims from diverse regions, reinforcing the event’s expansive scope and spiritual importance.
