Empowering Communities: CM Champions Decentralization in Planning for a Brighter Future
Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced a significant reform in the planning process during a recent event in Kurung Kumey district, emphasizing a shift towards a “bottom to top” approach. This new strategy prioritizes projects recommended by local communities, enhancing the efficiency and relevance of developmental initiatives. To initiate this change, a workshop will be held in Itanagar on January 16-17, bringing together guardian ministers, mentor secretaries, and deputy commissioners. These sessions will facilitate discussions on district-specific challenges and potential, leading to prioritized recommendations for the annual plan.
In a related development, Khandu addressed reforms in the education sector, revealing ongoing district visits by the education minister to assess and address educational needs. The resultant findings will be considered by the state government with the intention to implement substantial reforms within three financial years.
Highlighting infrastructural advancements, Khandu noted improvements in connectivity brought forth by the construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway and announced the planned Frontier Highway. This new corridor will significantly enhance connectivity across several districts, with functional tenders already floated. The state is also lobbying to have Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi districts recognized as tourist circuits to capitalize on the burgeoning tourism industry.
Khandu urged participation in health camps under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and highlighted the importance of ethical practices in elections to foster regional development. He also praised 63 aspirants from the district who cleared the APPSCE prelims, wishing them further success.
In a bid to continue development, Khandu approved five schemes worth Rs 20.45 crores for the Nyapin-Sangram assembly segment and assured consideration of a nine-point memorandum from local legislator Tai Nikio. The CM’s announcements underscore a strategic focus on local empowerment and infrastructural growth for sustainable state development.
