Exciting Breakthrough: Mizoram Transport Minister Makes Impactful Presence at the 42nd Transport Development Council Meeting
Mizoram Transport Minister Vanlalhlana participated in the 42nd Transport Development Council meeting held in New Delhi on January 7. This meeting, attended by Transport Ministers from across India, was segmented into two key sessions. During the first session, the focus was on advancing India’s transport infrastructure and safety through the introduction of the new central policy on Driver Training Centers (DTC) and Automated Testing Stations (ATS) for vehicle fitness checks. Additionally, programs for cashless treatment for accident victims and relief schemes for ‘hit and run’ victims were reviewed. Discussions also included the Vehicle Scrapping Policy and the establishment of Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSF). Enhancing the transport technology framework, the Union Minister unveiled three innovative applications—Sanjaya, Madras Matrix, and Field Perception Survey—developed by IIT Madras.
The second session featured presentations from the Transport Associations of India, providing a platform for exchanging insights and strategies. Minister Vanlalhlana highlighted the necessity for multiple Automated Testing Stations in Mizoram and addressed concerns about the state’s ability to sustain the Command and Control Center beyond March 2026. Emphasizing the need for enhanced vehicle safety, he requested a 50% subsidy for vehicle owners to acquire Vehicle Location Tracking Devices and Panic Buttons (VLTD & EAS).
Through his participation, Minister Vanlalhlana underscored Mizoram’s commitment to advancing state and national transport infrastructure, while also advocating for essential support to address localized challenges.
