Exciting UDP Announcement: Discover the Dynamic 2nd List of Candidates for Councils’ Polls!
Shillong, Dec 30: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has unveiled its second list of candidates for the forthcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC). Slated for February 21 next year, these elections are crucial for regional governance.
The UDP’s latest announcement names nine candidates, comprising six for the JHADC and three for the KHADC. Representing the JHADC are Medling M Swer (War East), Kat Kassar (War Central), Shlur Lamin (War West), Rimilanky Synnah (Nartiang Wahiajer), Wailad Siangshai (Musniang Rangad), and Damian S War (Mynsngat Khanduli). For the KHADC, the candidates are Ryngkatlang Lyndem, a sitting party MDC from Langkyrdem-Laikroh, Gilbert Laloo from Mylliem, and Suly Lyngdoh from Mawsynram.
This list was sanctioned by the State Election Committee (SEC), led by party chief Metbah Lyngdoh. According to UDP President, the selection process involved meticulous screening and adhered to recommendations from individual constituencies. Acknowledging the candidates, UDP President formally felicitated them with the support of General Secretary Jemino Mawthoh at the nomination event.
Earlier this month, on December 13, the UDP announced its initial list of 26 candidates, with 16 slated for the KHADC polls and 10 for the JHADC elections. The party plans to release its third list of candidates within a week, further solidifying their preparation for the upcoming elections.
