Manipur’s Compassionate Initiative: Empowering Displaced Families with Rs 30,000 Relief and Transformative Policy Review
The Manipur government, in a step to support bereaved families, has sanctioned a financial aid of Rs 30,000 to assist the families of deceased displaced persons with funeral expenses. This decision was reached during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on December 28, illustrating the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting those grappling with difficulties in the state.
Additionally, the cabinet meeting focused on significant policy initiatives aimed at boosting the state’s development. Notably, the Manipur Vehicle Scrapping Policy, 2024, was discussed, alongside the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme intended for flights operated by Alliance Air. These initiatives are designed to enhance infrastructure and connectivity across Manipur, promising future growth and modernization.
The cabinet further approved strategic land allocations for essential infrastructural projects, including the establishment of an MST bus terminus in Moreh and the construction of a new Manipur Police Headquarters complex in Mantripukhri. These developments signal a continued investment in the state’s logistical and administrative capabilities.
Moreover, the cabinet has decided to entrust the investigation of Laishram Kamalbabu’s disappearance to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Kamalbabu, a Military Engineering Services supervisor, has been missing since November 25 after last being seen entering the 57 Mountain Division in Leimakhong. The handover to the CBI signals a serious commitment to resolving the case expeditiously and transparently.
These decisions collectively signify the Manipur government’s proactive stance on addressing both immediate humanitarian needs and long-term infrastructural goals, carving a path toward a resilient and progressive state framework.
