A tragic incident occurred in Transport Nagar, Kota, where a man from Assam was fatally stabbed during a drunken brawl among roommates, as reported by police on Friday. The altercation took place between Thursday night and the early hours of Friday, leading to the arrest of two individuals involved in the incident.
The roommates, Vishavjeet (22) and Inderjeet (21), who are brothers, along with Paranjeet (30) and Sidharth, were engaged in a drinking party in their shared residence. All four individuals hailed from Kamrup district in Assam and had relocated to Kota for work approximately six months ago. An argument erupted between the brothers and Paranjeet, resulting in a violent encounter. As per Sidharth’s complaint, one brother restrained Paranjeet while the other allegedly stabbed him in the back with a knife.
The confrontation left Vishavjeet with a minor injury, according to Kota city SP Amrita Duhan. Neighbors who heard the commotion rushed Paranjeet to New Medical Hospital, but he was declared dead shortly after arrival. Following the hospital’s alert, Anantpura police swiftly arrived at the scene to gather eyewitness accounts. Sidharth recounted the sequence of events to the authorities.
After receiving medical treatment, Vishavjeet was discharged from the hospital and subsequently arrested. Police have retained Paranjeet’s body in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination and have informed his relatives about the unfortunate incident.
A murder case was filed against the two brothers based on Sidharth’s complaint. Inderjeet was apprehended on the bypass Jhalawar road while allegedly attempting to flee Kota. Both suspects are currently being interrogated by the police and are scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
This incident underscores the hazards of alcohol-fueled disputes and highlights the need for conflict resolution measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
