Shocking Betrayal: Kalyan Couple Arrested for Heinous Rape and Murder of Innocent 13-Year-Old Girl

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves across Thane district, a Special POCSO Court in Kalyan has remanded Vishal Gawli and his wife Sakshi Gawli to police custody until January 2, following their arrest in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl. The young victim had gone missing on Monday while out to purchase provisions, only for her lifeless body to be discovered on December 25 near a cemetery in Bhiwandi, approximately 8 km from her home.

This heinous crime comes shortly after a similar incident in Badlapur, where two nursery-aged girls were sexually assaulted in August. The recent tragedy has reignited public fury, with calls for the death penalty being made against the accused couple.

According to investigators, Vishal Gawli reportedly abducted the girl from near her residence, forcibly transported her in an autorickshaw to his home, where she was assaulted, raped, and subsequently killed. Her body was later dumped near the cemetery.

The family, alarmed by her non-return, lodged a missing person’s complaint, triggering an intensive investigative operation by the Thane Police. A dedicated team was quickly assembled to apprehend Gawli, who had fled to Shegaon in Buldhana district, a location connected to his in-laws.

As the investigation unfolds, community members and authorities alike are demanding justice for the senseless loss, while highlighting an urgent need for stricter measures against such violent crimes.
