A road accident left three tourists from Kolkata and their driver seriously injured after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge while en route to Jampui Hills, Tripura. The incident occurred around 5:50 PM near Jamaraipara on Jampui Road. The four individuals were part of a family from Sodhpur, Kolkata, who were on a five-day visit to the picturesque hills.
The mishap happened when their hired four-wheeler veered off course after the driver reportedly lost control. The accident site is under the jurisdiction of Kanchanpur Police Station. Local residents quickly alerted authorities, leading to a prompt response from Kanchanpur Police and Fire Service teams. They managed to rescue the injured and transport them to Kanchanpur Hospital for initial medical attention. Due to the seriousness of their injuries, they were subsequently referred to Dharmanagar District Hospital for further treatment.
The injured individuals are identified as Lalita Ghosh, 41, Bratonu Das, 50, and his 14-year-old son Arkabrata Das, along with their driver, 29-year-old Prasenjit Saha. According to authorities, despite the critical nature of their injuries, all are now reported to be in a stable condition. The family had started their journey from Agartala earlier in the day.
Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident while ensuring the victims receive adequate medical care. This unfortunate event underscores the need for caution while navigating the challenging roads leading to the tourist favorites like Jampui Hills.
