Discover the Alluring Beauty of West Jaintia Hills: Strict New Rules Ensure Peaceful and Respectful Tourism
The Dorbar Shnong of Thangrain village in West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, has implemented strict guidelines to curb inappropriate behavior and harmful activities within its jurisdiction. Key prohibitions include picnics, alcohol consumption, gambling, and any disruptive activities at local tourist spots. To ensure compliance, visitors must extinguish all fires completely after use, and new signboards have been erected to forbid loitering after 7 PM.
The use of offensive language and inappropriate conduct in public areas and along village boundaries is strictly banned. Violators face a substantial fine of Rs 5,000, and unresolved fines may result in legal action by the Village Council. These measures follow recent community-led efforts to clean the area, which involved the removal of discarded alcohol bottles and other waste.
The village’s firm stance aims to preserve its natural beauty and maintain order, reflecting community commitment to improving its environment for both residents and visitors.
