Unleashing Transformation: How Good Governance Ignites Northeast’s Future – Insights from Tripura CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of good governance in transforming the North East during the ‘Good Governance through Effective Implementation’ conference in Gurugram, Haryana. The event, organized by SGT University and Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, also saw the attendance of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
Dr. Saha spotlighted Tripura’s commitment to inclusive governance and rapid development, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special focus on the North East, referred to as “Ashtalakshi,” a region deemed rich in growth potential. He praised national initiatives such as the Act East Policy and the HIRA model for bolstering connectivity and infrastructure, benefiting states like Tripura through new national highways, a robust internet gateway, and enhanced rail services.
The Chief Minister highlighted the substantial reduction in militancy and terrorism under Modi’s leadership, fostering a peaceful, development-centric environment in the region. “The North East is now free from militancy, and we are witnessing unprecedented growth,” he stated.
Dr. Saha also mentioned the Maitree Bridge, although its operation faces delays due to issues in Bangladesh. He lauded Tripura’s Good Governance Department for ensuring efficient state functioning and expressed pride in the North Eastern Council’s recent session in Tripura, reflecting the region’s heightened national significance.
Tripura, alongside other North Eastern states, holds substantial tourism potential, and with peace established, efforts are focused on extending good governance to all societal sectors. Dr. Saha concluded by reinforcing the commitment to regional development under Prime Minister Modi, with the North East identified as a critical zone for national advancement.
