Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy CM Presents Visionary Budget for 2024-25
On Wednesday, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Chowna Mein tabled the state budget for 2024-25, aiming to build a ‘Viksit Arunachal’ through three primary pillars: healthy human resources, robust infrastructure, and a vibrant economy. This marks Mein’s 10th full budget as Finance Minister and the first for the current government.
In alignment with the Union budget’s nine priorities, Mein emphasized a development-driven agenda. He outlined a people-centric and progressive vision under the theme “Modi ki Guarantee,” promising to meet the aspirations of youth, women, and farmers. Mein stressed that by the end of their third term, Arunachal Pradesh should close all developmental gaps.
Key initiatives continue to focus on ‘AatmaNirbhar’ schemes and a saturation approach to support ‘Annadata’ farmers, boosting productivity and resilience in agriculture. Emphasis was also placed on inclusive human resource development and social justice, particularly benefiting youth, indigenous populations, women, and vulnerable groups.
Regarding infrastructure, the budget reflects Union priorities, highlighting ‘robust infrastructure’ and ‘smart urbanization’ strategies. Mein pointed out that the state’s hydropower initiatives could significantly contribute to the country’s energy security.
For a ‘vibrant economy,’ the budget mirrors Union priorities on industrialization, skill development, manufacturing, and services. Mein underscored efforts to foster a strong start-up ecosystem, including establishing incubation hubs at higher education institutes.
Mein concluded by reinforcing the state’s commitment to comprehensive development, ensuring no segment of the population is left behind. This ambitious budget paves the way for significant advancements in Arunachal Pradesh, aligning closely with national growth objectives laid out by PM Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat, Viksit Arunachal.”
