Outrage Erupts: Osmania University Panel Confronts Allu Arjun Over Stampede Tragedy Compensation Demand
Members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (JAC) protested at actor Allu Arjun’s Jubilee Hills residence, vandalizing property and demanding compensation related to a fatal stampede incident. The Hyderabad Police detained eight individuals who were taken to the Jubilee Hills Police Station. The group attempted to force entry into Arjun’s residence, demanding ₹1 crore in compensation for the family of Revathi, a 35-year-old woman who died during a stampede at the December 4 premiere of Arjun’s film, “Pushpa 2: The Rule.”
Video footage from the scene captures the protestors damaging flower pots and other property within the compound. Allu Arjun was not present at home during the incident. Previously, the actor had appealed for civility in public discussions following allegations tied to the stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre, which resulted in Revathi’s death and left her eight-year-old son injured. The child is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
The situation intensified when Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy accused Allu Arjun of attending the premiere without police permission, a claim that the actor strongly denied. Arjun labeled the accusations as false, defamatory, and deeply humiliating during a press conference on December 21.
In the aftermath of the stampede, Hyderabad Police arrested Allu Arjun. However, he was granted a four-week interim bail by the Telangana High Court on the same day. A legal case has been filed against Arjun, his security team, and the management of the theatre under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This incident highlights the tension surrounding the film premiere and raises questions about safety protocols at major public events, with ongoing investigations to determine accountability and ensure justice for the affected families.
