The Sikkim BJP recently wrapped up its organizational elections after three days of voting for District and Mandal Presidents across the state. The elections, hosted on Thursday at the State BJP city office in Gangtok, resulted in the election of Pempo Dorjee Lepcha as the District President of Gangtok, supported by seven Mandal Presidents from various local constituencies. Additionally, Mandal Presidents were elected for seven constituencies within the Gangtok district and two in the Pakyong constituency.
State BJP President DR Thapa addressed the new office bearers, urging them to actively contribute to the organizational growth and well-being of Sikkim’s populace. Thapa also expressed appreciation towards election officials at all levels and stressed the importance of ensuring the Central schemes, including the Ayusman Bharat PMJAY for seniors and E-Shram registration for unorganized sector workers, reach the eligible beneficiaries.
Prior to the Gangtok elections, similar exercises took place on December 17-18 in the districts of Geyzing, Soreng, Namchi, and Pakyong, where five district presidents and 25 Mandal presidents were chosen. The district presidents elected include Digum Limboo (Geyzing), Sanju Subba (Soreng), CL Gurung (Namchi), Prem Chettri Khatiwara (Pakyong), and Pempo Dorjee Lepcha (Gangtok). The appointment of remaining district and Mandal presidents is expected soon.
The assembly also paid homage to Late advisor Karma Pintso Bhutia, alongside other recently deceased relatives of party members, reflecting the party’s sense of community and respect amidst political proceedings.
