Thrilling Leap: Tura, Meghalaya Celebrates Revolutionary Fiber-to-Home Broadband Service—CM Sangma’s Visionary Milestone!
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has unveiled a Fiber-to-Home broadband service in Tura, marking a significant advancement in the state’s Last Mile Connectivity project. The initiative was announced on December 17 through Sangma’s official social media platform, where he emphasized the challenges of providing reliable internet in Meghalaya’s hilly terrain and celebrated this launch as a major accomplishment.
The service utilizes the Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) network to offer high-speed connectivity with an impressive 99% uptime, ensuring that homes, businesses, and institutions remain connected. Sangma highlighted the transformative potential of this service, stating that it could open up new opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, and communication, ultimately empowering the community of Tura and enhancing the town’s future prospects.
Additionally, in a parallel effort to bolster state welfare, Chief Minister Sangma inaugurated the Anti-Narcotics Task Force Police Station at the Police Radio Organisation Training School in Shillong. This new facility is strategically designed to serve as a central hub for monitoring and disrupting drug trafficking networks, reinforcing Meghalaya’s commitment to combating the drug menace.
Both initiatives signify Meghalaya’s dedication to fostering a connected and secure environment for its citizens, with the broadband service promising to bridge the digital divide and the drug task force aimed at safeguarding public health and safety. With such developments, Sangma envisions a more robust and progressive future for the state.
